Welcome to Gleed Boys School
Welcome to the Gleed Boys’ School Website. We are a successful 11–16 Boys’ School, passionate about the achievement of our 650 students. We believe all of our boys will achieve and as champions of equal opportunities are proud to celebrate the rich and diverse mixture of abilities and cultures our School community represents.
We are widely regarded as specialists in boys’ education, lessons follow carefully researched guidelines on effective teaching for boys, and our ‘zero tolerance’ policies on classroom behaviour and bullying are designed to effectively manage boys in a boys’ environment.
Whether you are a student, parent, member of staff, or interested browser, I very much hope you find this website a valuable resource for seeking out information about what makes this school increasingly successful.

SWINE FLU PANDEMIC POLICY OCTOBER 2009
The school is mindful of the need to ensure it is in a position to respond to any such event. The policy considers current actions that can be taken to reduce the spread of pandemic flu, and how to manage staff and students in the event of a flu pandemic.
Current government guidance is that people should try to continue their everyday (essential) activities as normally as possible during a pandemic, while taking personal responsibility for self-protection and social responsibility to lessen the spread of the virus
We are currently at Level 6 World Health Organisation (WHO) alert, which level indicates that swine flu is at a global pandemic. This was declared in the UK week commencing 14.6.09.
We have moved from a period of isolation where individuals with swine flu are isolated and those in close contact are given anti viral drugs to a period of management. In this period those individuals diagnosed with swine flu are treated with a 5 day course of anti-virals, and there are unlikely to be school closures, in full or in part.
We have been advised that the pandemic may come in two or more waves several months apart and this may affect the school in the Autumn / Spring Term 2009/ 10 . Each wave may last two to three months.
We are continuing to monitor the situation regarding H1N1 Flu virus (Swine Flu) carefully and are following the advice and guidance of the Department for Children, Schools and Families and the Health Protection Agency. We will use our school website to keep parents informed of any significant developments affecting our policy and, if appropriate will also telephone or write to parents.
Every effort will be made to keep the school operating as usual and to continue all school activities as normal as far as this is possible.

Humanities Status Success
Gleed Boys’ School is very pleased to announce that it has been designated a Specialist Humanities College from September 2009. Within Humanities we will specialise in English as our lead subject coupled with Religious Education and Citizenship.
We are very pleased and excited by this designation as it will enable us to further improve teaching and learning, improve facilities for students and further strengthen the staffing team.
We would like to thank all those who contributed to our application, particularly the Lincolnshire Business Education Trust and the Petronella Keeling Charity Trust.
Safe Cycling Campaign!
Since the introduction of our policy on impounding bicycles brought into school without brakes, there has been a great improvement in students’ awareness of safety on the roads, and many have proudly shown us the new brakes they have had fitted!
Only 3 bicycles have been impounded since 28th September, and consequently been collected by parents.
We continue to emphasis the importance of safe bicycles, and with the help of the police, will be having another check in a few weeks to ensure all bikes are fitted with appropriate lights as the days shorten and visibility on the roads becomes very important.
We would like to thank everyone who is supporting us in trying to ensure our students safety and well-being!
